Despite the promising box cover illustration, 'Horus' is merely an abstract tile laying game. Play starts with a river tile. The first action in a turn is taking a blind tile and place it. After this, a player may play a card that depicts the colour of a tile and a value.

This value is the amount of tiles that can be claimed by putting a stone on it. When a landscape has grown larger than five tiles, it is impossible for other players who did not yet participate in this landscape to join. When the stacks of two landscape types have depleted, the game ends.
The river itself does not bring points, but can be used to hinder the expansion of other players' areas. When however, the river encloses an area, it doubles its score.
