It is not strange to see game companies convert books or films into board games. Pegasus Spiele takes this to the limit, and converts a whole theme park into a game! Players have destination cards and have to travel and visit various locations for points. Bonus points are scored for collecting post cards. Hmmm, this doesn't sound all too innovative; 'Reise durch Europa' from 1990 and 'Auf Achse' from 1987 come into mind...

Players build bridges and gondolas between the six areas in Venice, and try to achieve a majority in each area. Gameplay starts with area one, and continues until the sixth has been scored.
In each round, first players take cards. There is a display with as many rows of cards as participating players; the starting player takes his first pick, then the others in player order. Players also draw two blind cards, so for players who are bookkeepers the cards in a players hand will not be completely known.

In the next phase the cards are played, first the one with the hats; revealing a new player order. After this, coin cards are played; for each coin card, a gold may be taken; the player who played the most coin cards may take an additional gold. With this gold, players may build in the next phase: green, yellow or blue buildings that all become active on a specific point in the game and bring certain advanatges: victory points, draw extra cards, starting player advantage, and so on.

Where are the workers?
'We did not have the right game material at hand and did not want to put people on the wrong track'.
So when we would see cubes instead of cylinders, the whole game idea would be upside down? Really?

In the next phase the bridge cards are played and bridges may be built. The total of bridges connected to an area indicates how much is is worth. The gondolas, another action, are simular to the bridges, but score less points. Their advantage is that they enable transport of workers from an already scored area into an area to be scored. In the next phase players may play cards to place workers in the areas. When a player manages to obtain a majority in either the three yellow-ish or blue-ish areas, he receives five additional bonus points.

Although at first Rialto may seem a blend between 'San Marco' (choosing cards, building bridges, majorities in the areas of Venice) and 'Carrara', gameplay will have to reveal whether this really is the case.

From the publisher:
Robinson Crusoe takes the players to a deserted island, where they'll play the parts of shipwreck survivors confronted by an extraordinary adventure. They'll be faced with the challenges of building a shelter, finding food, fighting wild beasts, and protecting themselves from weather changes. Building walls around their homes, animal domestication, constructing weapons and tools from what they find and much more awaits them on the island. The players decide in which direction the game will unfold and – after several in-game weeks of hard work – how their settlement will look. Will they manage to discover the secret of the island in the meantime? Will they find a pirate treasure, or an abandoned village? Will they discover an underground city or a cursed temple at the bottom of a volcano? Answers to these questions lie in hundreds of event cards and hundreds of object and structure cards that can be used during the game...
