A player can also choose to rebuild one of his palazzos. He pays one money card of his choice, and is allowed to  remove one building tile from a palazzo, or place a single building tile on top of, underneath or between two stories of an existing palazzo. This way for example a second floor can be inserted between a first floor and a third floor.

Among the building tiles in the third stack there are five tiles that all display a part of a painting of the emissary of the emperor entering the town. At the start of the game these tiles were shuffled with the other tiles in the stack.

x When all pieces of the painting have been turned over, the game ends. All palazzos higher than two stories score 1 point per window. There are bonus points for very high buildings and buildings consisting of only one type of material. The player with the most splendid buildings and thus the most points wins the game!

Palazzo is mainly an auctioning game, with the different currencies that cannot be mixed as a fun extra. Apart from that, the game is about building your palazzos in the most efficient way. Do not be too picky: you will not have enough time at the end of the game to end up with valuable buildings. But also don’t be satisfied too easily, because you will loose out on bonus points if you don’t try to obtain quality material! It is definitely worth your while to save your money for building tiles with many windows: they will score many more points at the end of the game compared to buildings with very few windows.
It all sounds very simple. And actually, it is! Palazzo is easy to explain to the regular player and the occasional player alike, and it takes about one hour of your time. The game is no doubt best with four players, but with two players Palazzo is also a very nice game. The material looks very good and decent, and we really have to mention that all components fit into the box inlay so perfectly that it will make you smile. All things put together, Palazzo is an addition to the game collection that will find its way to the gaming table on numerous different occasions!
